SUMMARY:The Critical Zone Part II: Soils are Sponges and Rivers have Livers
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nFreshwater is hosting the second installation in our Moos Family Speaker Series webinars on the critical zone. From parking lots\, to construction sites\, to farm fields and beyond\, everything we do on land affects water. These land-water interactions occur in the critical zone and\, depending on a variety of factors\, can have wide-ranging results. Soils store and release water\, nutrients\, and pollutants. Rivers provide an opportunity for groundwater-surface water exchange and can act as a filter. Join us for our spring webinar as we learn more about these systems and explore strategies and actions for capitalizing on the critical zone’s ability to capture what we need and process everything we don’t want. This event features presentations by Dr. Genevieve Ali\, McGill University (Montreal\, Canada)\, and Dr. Kamini Singha\, Colorado School of Mines\, followed by a Q&A session.
