Big Island & Back Update: Postponed for 2026
For many years, Big Island & Back has brought together paddlers, volunteers, and lake lovers in support of Freshwater's mission to inspire and empower people to value and protect water. We are deeply grateful for the community that has formed around this event and for everyone who has participated over the years.
After careful consideration, we have decided to pause Big Island & Back for 2026. Instead, we will use the coming year to reimagine the event and build a stronger foundation for its future.
As a nonprofit organization, we want to find ways to enhance the paddle experience while ensuring the event is financially sustainable for Freshwater to lead. To do that, we are exploring new partnerships with local organizations, community events, and sponsors that can help us grow participation, strengthen community engagement, and support the long-term success of the event.
Our goal is to relaunch Big Island & Back in 2027 with a refreshed approach and an even stronger connection to the Lake Minnetonka community. If you would like to receive updates about future plans for the event—or if you have ideas for potential sponsors, partners, or collaborations—we would love to hear from you.
