Your generosity helped us meet our goal!

Yesterday was Give to the Max Day, and Freshwater supporters pulled together to help improve water for future generations, investing in Freshwater initiatives like our internship program.

Your support will help launch careers and advances science, policy, and research critical to our waters and public health. With your help, our programs can help solve urgent water challenges that impact Minnesotans and communities downstream!

Where are they now?

Man gesturing to screen in front of classroomHere's an update from former Freshwater intern Rob McManus!

"Currently, I'm spending year living and working at St. Benedict's Prep High School in Newark, New Jersey. St. Benedict's actively works to serve inner-city youth, with many of our students facing significant challenges of chronic poverty and/or racism. My primary role includes teaching a course I designed covering some of the world's greatest challenges involving water. This course includes issues ranging from invasive species and harmful algal blooms to dams and water scarcity. I'm also working as a substitute teacher, in their scouting program, and within campus dormitories. I'm in the process of applying for graduate programs in the east coast and the Midwest in the fields of ecology and water sciences. Specifically, I would love to conduct research on how climate change and aquatic invaders impact lake ecosystems and anthropogenic usage. If all goes well, I'm hoping to begin in the fall of 2022."
