Smart Salting Training for Property Managers and Water Stewards

Snow and ice are facts of life for Minnesota winters. Smart winter maintenance practices are vital for ensuring both public safety and environmental health. Through presentations and class exercises participants in this virtual training will learn about a variety of sustainable salting practices and related topics, including:
- Infrastructure and environmental effects
- Legal considerations
- Success stories
- Property user education
- Winter maintenance basics
- Communication strategies
- Introduction to water softening and fertilizer chloride concerns
The class is presented by Fortin Consulting staff and maintenance professionals. At the conclusion of the class, an optional test is offered to earn the MPCA Level 1 Smart Salting Certification.
