Water Resources Center – Minnesota State University

The Brown SWCD is a local organization through which landowners and operators in the District may cooperate with each other and with agencies of the County, State, and Federal governments on soil and water conservation, watershed protection, flood prevention, farm forestry, wildlife improvement, recreation, rural farm development, and pollution abatement. It is contemplated that assistance made available through the District will encourage the use of all land within its capability and its need for protection and improvement. The Chippewa River Watershed Project seeks to improve water quality and flooding problems within the Chippewa River watershed while promoting a healthy agricultural, industrial, and recreation-based economy for the region.
Chippewa Soil & Water Conservation District

Meeker Soil and Water Conservation District

Meeker Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) was organized in the fall of 1949 and additional townships were added in 1951 and 1953 and all cities were added in July of 1972. The SWCD was organized for the purpose of assisting land occupiers in dealing with a wide range of conservation protection, flood prevention measures, farm forestry, wildlife improvement, recreation and rural area development within the 17 townships of Meeker County.

Redwood County Soil and Water Conservation District
County: Redwood
Redwood Soil and Water Conservation District was established in January, 1953. The citizens of Redwood County were concerned about soil erosion by wind and water and its affect on water quality. The district was authorized to be established when the state legislature passed the Minnesota Soil Conservation District Law in 1937. The law enabled farmers within set boundaries to organize for conservation purposes and gave them the power to enter into legal agreements and provide financial aid to landowners.
Hawk Creek Watershed Project
County: Renville
The Hawk Creek Watershed Project work area covers 623,424 acres (974.1 square miles) of land and is located in parts of Renville, Chippewa, and Kandiyohi Counties. It is unique among the other major watersheds of the Minnesota River in that it is comprised of a main tributary (Hawk Creek) and several other streams that flow directly into the Minnesota River.

Renville County Soil and Water Conservation District
County: Renville
The Renville County Soil & Water Conservation District exists to insure proper management of the county’s soil and water resources. The primary problem within the district is wind erosion due to intensive row crop farming combined with a virtually treeless prairie landscape. Water erosion is also a major problem in sloping areas of the county contributing to sedimentation of our ditch system and water courses. Feedlot pollution and chemical run-off is also an increasing problem. The soil and water conservation district is committed to providing assistance to any individual, group or agency that requests help in managing their natural resources.
