Spring 2022 Moos Lecture: Dr. Janice Brahney
April 13, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Free“Why is it raining plastics?”
Join Dr. Janice Brahney over the lunch hour on Wednesday, April 13, for a virtual talk on microplastics. Brahney is an associate professor at Utah State University. She received her doctorate in environmental biogeochemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and holds a master’s degree in earth science and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, both from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada.
Her research sits at the intersection of several critical zone disciplines and includes three primary themes:
- The atmosphere as a vector for material transport to aquatic ecosystems,
- Climate change effects in mountain environments, and
- The cause, effect, and mitigation of water quality impairment.
Much of Brahney’s work has produced results with far-reaching implications for policy, land-use regulation, and ecosystem monitoring.
